Admissions Community Support Staff Directory History/About Us

Philanthropy plays a major role in the success of the students at St. Mary's School for the Deaf. Even though the School is supported by the New York State Education Department, there are many needs that cannot be met with their funding alone.

Here's a few of the things the money raised in 2009 will support:
•  We will be using some of our private funds to provide financial support for the students' meals at SMSD.  The State of New York provides a very minimal amount of funds for these meals.
•  Each year the school puts on a drama show and has other drama programs. In addition, we offer students the opportunity to participate in sports camps.
•  In our residential program we make sure we celebrate birthdays and holidays with the students and take them on various field trips to enhance their education.
•  There are the provisions of hearing aid supplies to needy students.
•  We will help support the Boy & Girls Scouts.
•  We help fund the senior class trip each year.

There are so many more!

YOU can help by making a gift of cash, designating SMSD in your will, or supporting one of our special events.

Current Active Fundraisers:

Annual Appeal: Each year after Thanksgiving our Annual Appeal is made to help raise the necessary funds for the following year's programs and activities. If you would like your name added to the list please send it to the contact information below.

Brick Campaign: During the summer of 2006 St. Mary's School for the Deaf kicked off their Brick Campaign Project. Donors can purchase a brick or bench in our walkway that leads to a statue of Abbe De L’Epee. For more information, click here.

Annual Dinner : Each June St. Mary's School for the Deaf holds their Annual Dinner & Auction. The evening features three auctions – Chinese, silent and live auction. It is typically held at a country club or banquet hall and is a great way to enjoy a night out and help the school. If you would like your name added to the invitation mailing list or could donate a basket or other auction item, please send you information to the contact name below.

5K Run/Fun Walk: During Homecoming Weekend we host a 5K Run/Fun Walk. Registration information can be mailed to you if you would like.
