Transition Program

St. Mary's School for the Deaf (SMSD) prides itself on having a strong Transition Program offered to our students.  Beginning at age 14, all SMSD students participate in annual Transition Meetings with their families.  The Transition Team is led by Transition Coordinator Kelly Marshall.  Ms. Marshall has been in the field of Deaf Education for over 30 years, and has been a member of the St. Mary's community since 2010.  She leads the student-focused transition meetings with a team of the student's providers: School Principal; School Counselor; Teacher representative; Care Coordinator when applicable; and the student's family.  This team discusses the student's current academic program, any academic needs of the child such as tutoring, future job/work interests, independent living skills and areas for improvement, and anything else regarding the student's future the family would like to focus on during these meetings.  If you have any questions related to the SMSD Transition Program, please reach out to Ms. Marshall via e-mail at kellym@smsdk12.org or by calling the school at 716-834-7200, ext. 224.
