ESDAA Tournament 2024- Delaware School for the Deaf

Sunday, February 11th

The Lady Bisons squared off against Rhode Island today in the 3rd/4th place game of the ESDAA DII Tournament. The game was a hard-fought game for both teams. The Lady Bisons started out slowly but managed to claw their way back into it. JulieRaye Drabant had two key 3 point shots that helped rally us back.

It was a very physical game and both teams were in foul trouble early. Zarielle Ormsby fouled out of the game with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The last quarter was played 4v4. The Lady Bisons played their best but in the end the result was a 24-21 loss.

Great job by the girls this season. We are very proud of how they played.

ESDAA Tournament 2024- Saturday, February 10th

The Lady Bisons lost to Rochester School for the Deaf 44-22. This is the third time we have played them this season. We knew we would be outmatched but gave it our best effort. The Lady Bisons couldn't keep up in the first half. The transition game of RSD was too much. In addition, we had several key errors that helped with their lead. In the second half, the Lady Bisons made a come back and cut the lead to 9 points. Unfortunately, fatigue set in and the result was a loss.

Zarielle Ormsby finished with 18 points. Isabella Centinello-Perez had 3 points and Yaindhi Garcia Augustin had 1 point.

We play Rhode Island tomorrow at 11am in the 3rd/4th place game.

The Lady Bisons took on Gilead School this afternoon. We only had 5 girls suited up for the game due to injuries. We played a solid first half and went into halftime down 24-17. In the second half, we found ourselves down to 4 players due to an injury. We managed to get our full squad back after about 3 minutes of 4 v 4. Gilead took over, and we were not able to stay with them. The final score was 48-29. One positive, the Lady Bisons had several girls score tonight! Zarielle Ormsby led us with a double/double of 12 points and 17 rebounds! Isabella Centinello-Perez got “hot” and chipped in 9 points. Yaindhi Garcia Agustin had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Overall Record….1 win and 7 losses…..ESDAA 0-1

The Lady Bisons traveled to Rochester to face off against the RSD Wildcats. RSD was too much for us and took the lead from the tip off. As usual, we started slowly and fell behind early. We had a good 2nd quarter and showed some grit. In the end, however, RSD beat us with ease and won 57-26. Zarielle Ormsby led the Lady Bisons with 24 points. She also hit 4 three pointers in the game! Yaindhi Garcia Agustin had 2 points.

Our next game is February 5th against Buffalo Science.

The Lady Bisons hosted Amherst Christian yesterday. These teams were evenly matched and had a hard-fought game! The Lady Bisons came out flat in the first quarter and couldn’t find a rhythm. In the second quarter, we outscored Amherst 12 -2 and took the lead. The third quarter was a repeat of the 1st quarter, and the game was close. SMSD still had the lead. Early in the 4th quarter, Zarielle Ormsby aggravated an ankle injury. We were forced to sit her out. Amherst came back, and we could not fight them off. The final was 21-16. Zarielle Ormsby had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Yaindhi Gracia Agustin had 2 points and 10 rebounds. Elliana Sanders and EmilyLynn Spillman each had 2 points.

Our next game is today at Rochester.

The Lady Bisons traveled yesterday to Central Baptist to take on The Lions. We were hoping to bounce back from our poor performance on Tuesday. The Lions jumped out in the first half and took a substantial lead. The Lady Bisons struggled to establish a rhythm and found themselves in a substantial hole at half-time. In the second half, though. The Lady Bisons began making better passes and decisions. Our shots started to find the basket and our confidence increased. Despite the final score being 53-29, the girls were feeling better about themselves and their performance!

Zarielle Ormsby led the Lady Bisons with 19 points and shot 4 for 7 from 3-point range. Yaindhi Garcia Agustin had 4 points. JulieRaye Drabant had her first 3-point shot!! Elliana Sanders finished with 2 points and EmilyLynn Spillman had 1 point.

Our next game is Tuesday Jan. 30th against Amherst Christian at SMSD @ 4:00PM.

The Lady Bisons played Buffalo Science today at the ECC Flickenger Center. The first time the Lady Bisons were on a college floor! What an experience. This was our first game in almost 2 weeks due to the winter storm that closed Buffalo.

The Lady Bisons were outmatched and the time off was evident. We only had 5 girls in uniform for the game. We gave our best effort but, in the end, we lost 40-7. Zarielle Ormsby had 5 points and EmilyLynn Spillman had 2 points.

Our next game is on Thursday at Central Baptist.

The SMSD Lady Bisons were back in action today after the holiday break. New Life Christian came to Gallagher Gym and dominated the game. The Lady Bisons could not keep up with their speed and intensity. The Lady Bisons needed the time off to heal and get healthy, but unfortunately, our conditioning became a factor. New Life was simply better than us in every aspect of the game. Zarielle Ormsby finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Isabella Centinello-Perez had 2 points. Julie Raye Drabant played well defensively.

Our overall record is 1-2….ESDAA 0-1.

The Lady Bisons hosted Rochester today in the I-90 Classic. We look forward to this annual game against the Wildcats. The Lady Bisons had a tough 2 weeks with injuries as well as illness. This was the first time we had all our players together in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were too many, and we couldn’t keep up. The final score was 49-24 Rochester. Zarielle Ormsby left the Lady Bisons with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Yaindhi Garcia Agustin chipped in 5 points. We are head into Christmas break and are hoping our injuries heal, and we get stronger.
