Game Recaps 2025

10/29/25

We played our last game of the year against Nichols School. It was a high scoring affair with Nichols winning the battle 8-4.  The team finished the season with a 1-6 record.

Daviangel scored three goals and RJ had one. Goalie Samiah had to leave the game in first half after sustaining an injury while making a brave dive for the ball. Liliana came in to replace Samiah and made a few saves.

Season highlights: Daviangel scored in all 7 matches and only two of the games were not multi-goals. He finished the season with 14 goals, averaging two per game. RJ’s game showed a lot of growth as he had four goals. Super rookie Shaibam continued to be one of our most reliable players. Tha Er and Analena put in a lot of minutes playing defense.

The players appreciated all the cheers the varsity volleyball team gave during the game, they have awesome school spirit!  Thanks to the ground crew for an immaculately manicured ground turf the last two months!

10/22/25

Our players found Elmwood Franklin to be a tough team to play against. It was a challenge for our team to get the ball out of the defensive half.  However, the coaches were glad to see that players persevered through not only the opponents, but weather as well.

The highlight of the game was RJ assisting on a goal by Daviangel, which came via a throw in by Seyed.  The final score was 8-1.

10/15/25

Yesterday, we played Aurora on a wonderful Fall afternoon.  Since we already played that team twice, there was awareness about how good some of their players were.  The coaches tried to emphasize better defense this week and many of the players showed improvement.  Aurora won the game 5-3.

Lilliana played as a goalie for the first time and made some fantastic saves.  Samiah , Aran , and Malek put in a good effort.  Daviangel scored twice and RJ notched one against the opponent’s stingy defense.

10/8/25

SMSD lost 5-2 to Aurora this afternoon. Despite being outshot and not having much ball control, our defense did well in keeping the game closer.

RJ and Daviangel each had a goal. Vignesh, Tha Er, and RJ put in their best effort.  Shaneily, Aran, Seyed, and Roshana saw more playing time in this game.

Next week will be a good test to see if the team can make better adjustments against Aurora.  Who knows, maybe third time will be the charm?

10/1/25

We played the first of three games against Aurora this afternoon. It was tied 2-2 at halftime but the opponents were able to take majority of the ball control in 2nd half.  It was not until near the end of game when Aurora was able to score twice.  The result was a 4-2 loss.

Samiah made a fantastic save to keep the game close. Daviangel kept his scoring streak intact with two goals. Vignesh , RJ, Shaibam, and Adrianna gave solid efforts in the game. Roshana, Tamana, and Seyed helped with team depth.

9/24/25

We had our second game of the season against Tapestry School.  The game resulted in a 4-3 loss for SMSD. It was a very evenly matched contest that could have gone either way. Despite the outcome, this was a good learning experience for the kids. There is room to improve and we have five more games to work on playing better as a team.

RJ had his first goal while Daviangel scored two. Adrianna played a few positions and did a good job with moving the ball forward. Analena made some good clearances from the defensive area. Shaibam showed she is intimidated by no one as she constantly battled for the ball with bigger opponents.
