Summer School Program

Summer School Program

The Summer School Program offered at St. Mary’s provides a unique opportunity for students to participate in a variety of academic, social and community focused activities.  The goal of our six-week Summer Program is to prevent student regression, as well as encourage continued learning and preparation for life after graduation.

Our program not only provides review of prior learning, but helps students prepare for the coming school year.  Some of the many programs offered include a rigorous academic program coordinated with test preparation for NYS tests (Regents and Regents Competency Tests), accessible Drivers Education (for students 16 years of age and older), work experience, and community trips.  Early elementary students are additionally given the opportunity to participate in a variety of outdoor activities.

Almost all SMSD students are approved for our Summer Program at their annual Individual Education Planning (IEP) meeting.
