Admissions

If a student is between the ages of 3 and 21, the student needs to be registered in their local school district.  If the student is under the age of three, there is no need to register with the home school district.  Families should tour the SMSD campus to make an informed decision regarding enrollment.  If the student meets the New York State requirements for admission, the student receives Educational, Audiological, Psychological and Speech/Language assessments during the admissions process. These evaluation results are discussed with the local school district Committee on Special Education (CSE) and/or the student’s Early Intervention (EI) Team and a committee decision is reached for admission to SMSD.

St. Mary’s School for the Deaf continues to work collaboratively with all school districts and agencies throughout Western New York so that every student may reach his/her/their full potential.

For more information about the admissions process or to apply to our school, please contact Aimee Bell, School Superintendent, at aimeeb@smsdk12.org, Voice Phone: 716-834-7200 (ext. 273) or Video Phone: 716-335-9389.
