Vicky-Marie J. Brunette is a seasoned legal professional serving as Deputy General Counsel for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). With a focus on litigation and corporate governance, she heads the NFTA's litigation team, providing strategic legal counsel and representation to the Board of Commissioners, Executive Director, and various business centers. Her expertise spans a wide range of legal areas, including ethics, diversity, equity, and inclusion, common carrier law, transportation law, public authorities’ law, public officers law, wrongful death, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, No-Fault insurance, and police professional liability.
A respected member of the NFTA's Senior Leadership and Management Teams, Vicky actively contributes to the Authority's Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Pride Planning Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. John Fisher College and a Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Admitted to practice law in both state and federal courts in New York, Vicky is a dedicated member of the legal community, affiliated with the Erie County Bar Association, Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, Defense Trial Lawyers Association (DTLA) of Western New York, Defense Research Institute, and New York Trial Lawyers Association.
Recognized for her exceptional contributions, Vicky received the Robert M. Kiebala Defense Trial Lawyer of the Year award in 2018 and the Business First Women of Influence award for "behind the scenes" in 2014. She is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo's Class of 2008.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Vicky is deeply committed to community service. She serves as Board President for the Ovarian Cancer Project and as a Board member for both the DTLA and the Delaware Women's Golf Club. She has also served on the SMSD Board from 2016-2022 and rejoined the Board in 2024.
Vicky's passion for education and her belief in SMSD's mission were ignited by her interactions with former Superintendent Timothy Kelly. Impressed by his child-first approach to leadership, she is eager to contribute to the school's continued growth and success.
A lifelong learner, Vicky resides in Lancaster with her wife, Elizabeth.
