Sign Language Classes

One of the biggest and most meaningful programs the Family Center runs throughout the year is our Family ASL Class Program.  At no cost to families, SMSD provides the opportunity for any family member of current students to learn American Sign Language (ASL). We strive to support families and promote communication access for our students at home and at family events, which is an important part of our students' linguistic, social, and emotional development.  Classes are divided into various skill levels and aim to foster meaningful communication in your daily family life.

  • Day and Evening Classes at the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels
  • Sibling Sign Classes
  • Conceptual Sign Language classes available in: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Somali, and Spanish.  Other languages are available upon request.
